Weekend in the Bialowieza Forest /3 days/

For tourists accommodated in the vicinity of Narewka

1st day

We arrive at midday at Narewka and after registration (we suggest the guest house “Bialowieskie Ustronie”) we set off on a bicycle tour. 18 km is to be covered. It is an easy trip, which enables to discover:

  • history of Narewka ( visiting Jewish cemetery and Orthodox church)
  • the exposition of items connected with nature in the Forestry Comission Building
  • the surrounding nature /the picturesque Narewka River Valley from the observation tower in Kosy Most and different types of plants and animals that occur in this part of the Bialowieza Forest/

In the evening we plan a bonfire- night feast

2nd day

After breakfast we set out on a tour which leads through the Narewkowska road to Bialowieza (we choose
the option number WRJ4). We return to Janowo by taking a different route through the Bialowieza Forest.

The program of the tour encompasses:

  • the Narewkowska Road to the Old Bialowieza
  • The Royal Oaks and Lithuanian Princes Trail – the trail consists of a several-hundred-year old oaks named after Polish kings hunting in the Bialowieza Forest
  • the European Bison Show Reserve /tarpans, bisons, żubrons – hybrids of bisons and domestic cattle, deer, wolves and boars/ ; later the Place of Power
  • educational path “ Trees of the Bialowieza Forest”

Lunch in Bialowieza

  • the Museum of Nature in Bialowieza and The Palace Park
  • forest tracks leading to Swinoroje
  • educational path “Under the Oaks” in Swinoroje

Dinner

3rd day

After breakfast we take part in the bicycle tour to the Waliczowka Valley. During the tour we observe:

  • the channel of the Narewka River from the perspective of the bicycle route
  • St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church
  • The Waliczowka Valley and beavers lodges
  • the return track through the Ladzka Forest

We return to Janowo, dinner is served. The end of the weekend

1st day

We arrive at midday at Bialowieza and after registration in your desired hotel we set off on a bicycle tour. 12 km of the bicycle route is to be covered. It is an easy trip, which enables to discover:

  • the most interesting places in Bialowieza ( we visit St. Nikolaus Orthodox Church with ceramic, unique iconostasis, we get to know the wooden, interesting architecture of Białowieża, we visit St. Teresa Church with St. Hubertus altar and the Palace Park and Dyrekcyjny Park)
  • the captivating nature of the Narewka River Valley
  • historic railway station built before the arrival of the Tsar Nikolaus II to Bialowieza

In the evening we plan a bonfire-night feast.

2nd day

It is a trip for persistent cyclists, which leads through forest tracks and asphalt roads. The tour enables to get to know the history of Bialowieza surroundings and animals and plants that occur in the Bialowieza Forest.

During this tour we discover:

  • the place of insurgents camp from 1864
  • The Place of Power / mysterious place with strong energetic radiation/
  • interesting villages hidden in the forest / Budy, Czerlonka, Teremiski/
  • a picturesque corner in the Bialowieza Forest called “Osada Zwierzyniec” with interesting park
  • the private open – air ethnographic musem in Budy

Lunch in the “Osocznik” Inn

  • The Old Bialowieza – we visit The Royal Oaks and Lithuanian Princes Trail where there are a several- hundred-year old oaks; we admire the Lutownia River Valley

Dinner

3rd day

After breakfast we check out from the hotel and we go to Janowo near Narewka where we rent a bicycle. We need to cover 18 km of the bicycle route. It is an easy trip, up to 4 hours, which enables to discover:

  • the history of Narewka (visiting Jewish cemetery and Orthodox Church)
  • the surrounding nature ( the picturesque  River Braszcza and Narewka Valleys and various types of plants and animals that occur in this part of the Bialowieza Forest)

Return trip to Janowo, dinner, the end of the weekend
